Collage of Politics and Governance
The college, under the supervision of King Prajadhipok’s Institute, serves the institute’s educational mission (under article 6 (5)) by providing and supporting education and training for government officials, state employees, and the general public in politics, governance, economic, and social issues. Currently, the college conducts six courses as follows:

1. Politics and Governance in Democratic Systems for Executives
The objectives of this course are:
- To deepen understanding for democracy;
- To promote democratic attitudes and values;
- To enhance analytical skills and democratic behaviors;
- To search for applicable techniques for improving governance in Thailand;
- To expand networks for disseminating democracy.
The target groups are members of parliament, senators, high ranking officials in the public and private sectors, officers in international organization, members of the armed forces, the police, NGOs, the mass media and entertainers. This course lasts for nine months and runs from June to February each year. The institute has conducted this course since 1996.
2. Public Law and Management for Executives
This course was created to meet the demand from the public and private sectors for a program which offers public administration concepts and skills to high-ranking officials.
The purposes of this course are to:
- To deepen knowledge and understanding in terms of public policy and good governance
- To develop capacity of participants to become well ? versed in policy management processes
- To enhance knowledge and capacity in modern administration and management
- To encourage participants to develop concepts and policies for knowledge development
- To cultivate attitude and perspectives on culture and traditional practices to coincide with good governance
- To develop political leadership networks by employing participatory learning techniques.
The target groups are members of parliament, senators, high-ranking employees in the public and private sectors, university lecturers, and members of the armed forces and the police.
3. Management of Public Economy for Executives
This course aims to develop the ability to employ economic principles for formulating policy among high-ranking state employees in the government sector, public enterprises, autonomous public organizations and private sector executives.
The course objectives are:
- To educate participants about basic principles of economics;
- To develop the body of knowledge of economics and the linkage among economic structures;
- To deepen understanding of the benefits of applying the logic and rationale of economics in administration and economic policy analysis.
The target groups of this course are members of parliament, senators, high-ranking state and private enterprise employees, university lecturers, and members of the armed forces, the police and NGOs. The course will run from August to May each year.
4. Political Leadership in New Era
This course aims to inspire, educate and train political, public and private leaders to function well in the contemporary world. The target groups are members of parliament, senators, high-ranking employees in the public and private sectors, officer in independent organizations, members of the armed forces, the police and NGOs. King Prajadhipok’s Institute has conducted this course since 2004.The course will run from May to November annually.
5. Political Parties and Politics and Governance for Political Party Executives
This course aims to enable party officials to run political parties effectively and enhance democratic behaviors. The target groups are political party members, political party staff, members of parliament (nationally and locally), university lecturers, the mass media, high-ranking officials in the public and private sectors, and the people. The institute has conducted this course since 2002. This course will run from July to January each year.
6. People’s Audit
This course is a short-term certificate level course. It aims for its participants to apply their knowledge within there own profession.
- Participants should be involved either in politics or public services from the state or local government.
- Participants should be able to attend class on a regular basis throughout the course.
- Participants must also be interested in and willing to apply what their learn it to their own organizations.
7. Other activities of the College of Politics included.
- Arranging the national seminars for the public
- Offering academic services to governmental organizations
- Disseminating knowledge and information on democracy though mass media such as TV and radio programs,
8. Evaluation
External evaluators have praised the College of Politics and Governance programs. The positive assessments have noted that:
Trainees or participants have built up and extended networks themselves and other organizations, both in the government and the private sectors.
The training courses have strengthened public and private sector administrators and executives to better understand politics and governance.
The training courses have satisfactorily enhanced democratic values of participants.
Trainers or participants have played a “democracy developer” role to disseminate knowledge and information on democracy to the public, and all courses have satisfactorily achieved their objectives.
